Splitting a transaction allows you to break larger purchases down into smaller purchases. You may want to do this if you share a bill with someone else. e.g. splitting your cable bill into the part you pay and the part someone else pays you. Additionally, if you have a single transaction from a merchant and make a large purchase but the total amount isn't for one category, you may want to split the transaction. For example, if you spent $100 at Target, you may want to create two smaller Target transactions that have different categories.
To split a transaction, do the following:
- Exclude the transaction from the app by tapping on the transaction you'd like to split and then tapping exclude in the top right corner on transaction detail screen.
- Create one or more transactions manually by tapping on “+” on the transaction list (for each transaction, you can select a different name and category.)
